“My Utmost for His Highest”

“When there is no major difficulty to overcome, no vision from God, nothing wonderful or beautiful-just the everyday activities of life- do I hear God’s assurance even in these?”

Here is where the true test lies, in the moments when we are standing in the midst of ourselves and the only thing standing between us and God is the void of our everyday lives.  Are we not at our best of times when we are in the midst of adversity? God Himself states that in weakness His strength is perfected (2 Corinthians 12:9), but what about in our strength? What happens when we have been blessed, and have prospered, and are no longer utterly dependent upon God for our every need?  What about the times when the instruction of God is to just wait, that there is no great movement to be made, and our lives seem to be at a standstill?

“We have the idea that God is preparing and equipping us for some extraordinary work in the future.  But as we grow in His grace we find that God is glorifying Himself here and now, at this very moment.  If we have God’s assurance behind us, and we learn to sing, glorifying Him even in the ordinary days and ways of life.”

Deuteronomy 31:8 “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

We have to be continually aware of His presence, even in the quiet times.  We cannot be lulled to sleep by the silence of peace.

I Kings 19:11 So He said, “Go forth and stand on the mountain before the LORD” And behold, the LORD was passing by! And a great and strong wind was rending the mountains and breaking in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of a gentle blowing… Then the voice came to him…”

God is not partial to excitement or crisis… He is always present and will reveal Himself to us at any moment, in anyway He so chooses. It is up to us to be ready… “In season and out.”
